I'm glad to see all three standards will be supported on the new Intel Macs. Hell, It can't hurt to support 802.11b/g/a I suppose. I'd consider switching to 802.11a if I didn't already have two Macs with b/g only...the 2.4 GHz frequency is WAY overused.
"A new online information service launching in early 2006 aims to build on the model of free online encyclopedia Wikipedia by inviting acknowledged experts in a range of subjects to review material contributed by the general public."
An interesting analysis of Diebold's voting systems. Apparently the systems have multiple holes that allow vote manipulation, as proven by this posting by Black Box Voting testers. Discussions like this have been going on ever since the machines were introduced, but this is the first time I've actually seen results of some testing.
A behind-the-scenes look at the office responsible for the XBox 360. The pictures show a 350 server TESTING environment; I'm curious how many XBox Live production servers are in use.
The man responsible for the libelous statements added to a Wikipedia article on John Seigenthaler Sr. has personally apologized. He said he was just playing a prank on a co-worker. Based on the NYT article, it sounds like he confessed when an online sleuth closed in on him. It's about time he was caught - too bad Wikipedia's reputation was dragged through the mud over the incident.
At the beginning of the year, Weyco mandated that all employees quit smoking as part of their wellness program. Smokers were given a deadline to quit smoking and were offered courses to help them quit. Employees are tested regularly. Any employees still smoking after the deadline were fired. At least 3 people have been fired so far.
My suggestion list for Newsvine, no matter how crazy they may be. I realize you have to get the core functionality there first, but I'm picky, and this is a beta, so here are my suggestions:

Yes, our favorite social bookmarking website has been acquired by Yahoo. No news yet on the potential changes to the del.icio.us service, if any. No monetary figures have been released.
I'll admit it - I'm a tech news junkie. I'm constantly looking for new ways to share information and new websites that feed that need.

I had the opportunity to see a demo of Google Earth right after Hurricane Katrina hit. I was amazed the important role Google Earth played in the recovery efforts. This is definitely a tool that has many uses. I'm glad to see Google is making their fine product available to Mac users now, too.
Surprised? The new patch introduces more security vulnerabilities. When will Sony learn? They've lost more money on this debacle than they would have lost to piracy, not to mention this customer.
As the name implies, Google Transit builds on the success of Google Maps by plotting public transportation opportunities. The maps include walking, buses, trains, and other forms of public transportation. It also includes the price and amount you save, if any, by using publication transportation.
"We have worked in concert with Apple to benefit the consumer; where others are not working with content providers is clearly not in the best interest of the consumer."
The top rated cable sports network plans to offer its diet of original shows and game clips to "any pipe, any device," according to the president of ESPN.
I absolutely refuse to purchase products based on the rebate price, because I know 95% of the time I either forget to send in the rebate or (more often than not) I send in the paperwork and never hear back.
I really wouldn't have a problem with more advertising, but when I pay $10 to view a movie I expect a great experience.
"When, for example, we pointed out that Overstock's customer service line hangs up on consumers, Blevins countered that eBay and Amazon don't even have phone lines, and Byrne said that "a huge spike in sales" caused "an unexpected minor technical issue to drop calls for a small number of our customers." We should have played lotto that week because Overstock dropped our calls 20 out of 22 times
"Glaser told a packed hotel ballroom that Jobs & Co.'s refusal to make the iPod compatible with music services other than Apple's iTunes was "pigheadedness."
I can't say I'm surprised that yet another shocking discovery has come from the Sony Rootkit saga, but I never expected this! Obviously Apple could win an easy court battle, citing the DMCA. I'm sure Sony's defense would be that they didn't know what First4Internet was designing, they just wanted something to prevent piracy.
